Week 6:
"
Open to any kind of images you want to take and post. Try taking some outside photographs of people,
sunshine or shade. Don't hesitate to try using fill in flash. If you have a technique that works for you, by all
means tell us about it and show us how you accomplished it."

My neighbor owns Treaty Line Pottery, where she makes and fires her own wares.
I visited with my camera and recorded some of the work involved.
Here they are carefully placing the pots into the kiln for firing.
One of the chambers is full and will be sealed with bricks before they start adding wood for fire.
The second chamber is being filled.
The chambers are full and sealed. This is the far end of the kiln where the fire is started. Later as the temprature rises the wood will be added into holes in the front.
In goes wood into the front. This is very festive. Flames shoot from the top of the kiln. They will be there all night adding wood. It's a long process.
Wood is being inserted into the second chamber now.
To date: The firing is all finished and the pottery is cooling in the kiln awaiting them to break open the sealed door. It will be like Christmas pulling out all those fired pots.
Days later:
I arrived after the doors had been broken open. The first chamber was cleared of half of it's lovely pottery and the second chamber was still in waiting.
Inspection of each piece and uhs and awes over how each peice turned out. Every peice is unique to how it will look. Each firing turns out different looking pots. This firing they used more salt then usual.
Each piece is put on a food tray and then carried over to the Studio where it will be priced and then placed on a shelf.
Walking carefully with a tray of pottery. This is not an easy job. The pottery gets heavy and there are many trips that need to be made. I did put down my camera and help with this one job.
Here the pottery is placed on the floor until it can be priced and shelved. The table and counter is full already.

Soon the shelves will not be bare.

What a beauty!

One of Sharon's prize vases.
These belonged to Sharon, one of the helpers.
Tea Pots. They were stashed among the other pottery for firing. One was even inside of a bigger pot. No space was wasted.

I have to stay true to myself and post a landscape image from the country side. This farm has always caught my eye and I never tire of photographing it.
